Dust
Dust is made up of minute particles with diameters less than 500 micrometers. These particles can come from all sorts of sources. Domestic dust is usually made up of dead skin cells, the dried feces and dessicated corpses of dust mites, and fibers shed by clothing. Dust can be made up of organic and inorganic matter, the proportions of which depend on the location. Inorganic matter that contributes to dust includes soil and sand, whereas organic matter could include pet hair, plant pollen, paper fibres and textile fibers. The amount of dust present depends on ventilation, cleaning habits of the occupants, uses of the rooms, the type of flooring (carpet tends to trap dust), and heating systems (air conditioners as opposed to fireplaces).
Dust control is important as it can pose a serious health threat when airborne to children, older people and those with respiratory diseases such as allergies (e.g. hayfever) or asthma. It can also damage electronic items that need ventilation as dust can clog up the airways resulting in overheating.
Dust Collectors
Dust collectors are available for domestic and industrial purposes. Domestic dust collectors try to trap dust without it becoming airborne, whether through an electrical charge, vacuuming, or water-traps. For example, water-traps prevent dust getting into the air by submerging the particles in water so it can’t escape the container. Industrial dust collectors can be designed for indoor or outdoor use.

This can be provided as a complete system, or it can be coupled up to an existing fan system. Even processed that release dust particles that can be explosive when combined with air can be extracted securely with explosion relief panels built into the dust collector. If noise is an issue then silencers can also be fitted to reduce it.
